THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR MARCO
POLO STUDIES
MEMBERSHIP
We propose that Membership of the International Committee For Marco Polo Studies be derived from those distinguished academics and other researchers concerned, as we are, to develop new channels for cultural exchange between the peoples of East and West as well as to further the cause of Marco Polo research.
We further propose that Membership of this Committee be limited to not more than 15 Members, with each nation that supports our aim of promoting international cultural exchange through a focus upon the life, times and achievements of Marco Polo, and in which active participation in the field of Marco Polo studies is either taking place or is seriously being contemplated, being represented by at least one Member.
We further propose that Membership of this Committee be by personal invitation in the first instance, rather than by nomination by any Government or professional body, and that these invitations be made on the basis of the reputation of individual researchers and scientists/academics as active contributors within the field of Marco Polo studies, and who are sympathetic to the aims of our initiative.
