THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR MARCO POLO STUDIES

TASKS

We further propose that the tasks to be undertaken by this Committee should include:

The creation of a draft program of research action and presentations related to the life, times & achievements of Marco Polo, to be instituted by the proposed International Marco Polo Association when established;

The presentation of the above to national & international institutions in order to gain their moral and financial support;

The presentation, by individual Members, of elements of this program within their own national and local community, together with participation in Conferences on Marco Polo and other similar events as representatives of the Committee, with a similar purpose in mind;

The generation of high-level publicity, both nationally and internationally, for the aims of the International Marco Polo Association, as a means of attracting support for it at all levels of society;

The drawing up of the Articles of Constitution of the proposed International Marco Polo Association, deciding the basis of its Membership, and other related matters appertaining to the establishment of this body.

We further propose that the Committee keep itself informed about any ongoing research projects or recent publications in the field of Marco Polo studies and related subjects, as well as about scholars and other specialists engaged in such projects and publications, the better to determine the identities and achievements of potential future Committee Members.

Once the proposed INTERNATIONAL MARCO POLO ASSOCIATION has been established, we envisage the International Committee For Marco Polo Studies continuing its work of study and research as a constituent, though separate, Section of the Association retaining its own unique identity and agenda.
